The story so far.
The 800 horsepower, 'Overkill' powered, drag bike, 'Mr. Spokehead', was built in 2005 as a tribute to Ian's friend and mentor, the late, great, Jim McClure, of Virginia. A champion always.
Team principals at 'BLOODLINES Racing' decided that, after five years, racing the UK's only UEM class Nitro Harley was no longer viable so it was sold to a great team in Finland. We all had a lot of fun with that machine but were really racing way over our heads! The fabulous painting below was commissioned by the Chesworth's from famous drag racing artist, PAUL WHITEHOUSE, to commemorate the Nitro Harley and the Junior Dragster.
After much thought it was decided that the only other class in drag racing that we all enjoyed as much was NOSTALGIA DRAGSTER.
BLOODLINES RACING then commissioned TurboVille Racing to build a modern version of the awesome front engined dragsters of the mid 1960's that inspired him when he was just twelve years old. We would go back to the golden age of drag racing and re-live 'Camelot'
Just then, as if by divine intervention, Jon Best put his 160"rolling chassis up for sale...it was meant to be!
The car was to be an affordable but competitive race car for the WILD BUNCH and SUPER-PRO championships. We built a 555ci BIG BLOCK CHEVY and POWERGLIDE package to suit and Ian first fitted a vintage Crower stack injection system and then a Hilborn '4 hole' fuel injection system on top of a very rare 'ED PINK' magnesium 8/71 blower, all fully re-furbished by Kenny Gomez at SUPERPOWER UNLIMITED, with a Mallory magneto, to keep it all period correct. The chassis was tagged down to 7.5 seconds, quick enough for us!
The all alloy, hand fabricated (by Bill Felstead) 'chute-pack' body was finished off by Ian and painted by CURBISHLEY AUTOMOTIVE. It had classic lines reminiscent of Ian's favorite cars from that golden decade of drag racing 1960-1970.
The chrome and final touches were added (courtesy Nottingham Chrome Platers) in time for the car to debut at DRAGSTALGIA, Santa Pod Raceway, in July 2011.
Test runs showed immediate promise and proved that Ian had got his first car build right. He gained his Dragster license at the MOPAR INTERNATIONALS shortly after. Once the normal 'new car niggles' were ironed out Ian, with help from 'Crunch', Spud Miller, Blake Brothers racing, and Johnny 'Mental' Hall, soon had the front wheel's up in the air just as he did with the bike.
Ian's first race against another car happened at the famous BULLDOG BASH, at Shakespeare County Raceway in August.
The car was christened 'TRUE BLOOD' as a nod to those brave men that gave their all in the hey-days of this sport and as a thanks to famous car artist KENNY YOUNGBLOOD who graciously designed our hero cards.

Meanwhile, Laura Grace was learning the ropes in her great Junior Dragster and doing very well!
In 2011 she turned sixteen and was ready to move up to the adult ranks.

Bloodlines decided that something unique to Laura was called for and Ian had a mad idea!
Ian had seen pictures of mid size dragsters in the USA with motorcycle engines in them.
Well it so happened that BLOODLINES had a spare 160ci Harley 'Overkill' left from the big bike!
After scouting around they found a very famous American race car chassis for sale that was the right layout and dimensions for the new project! It was the ex-comp car of the late Shelly Howard (then raced by Martyn Jones) and had a full chrome-moly chassis with a detachable rear clip. A new rear section was made to house the monster, motorcycle, motor! It is now fitted along with a Bentec slider clutch and Lenco Reverse unit. This unique combination with be mechanically injected with methanol and boosted with a special 300hp nitrous oxide system. This is chain driven to a strange 31 spline live axle. The body and running gear were updated, tagged, and painted as always by CURBISHLEY AUTOMOTIVE.
The car is called the 'OVERKILL' and made it's debut in 2012.
The car performed perfectly, albeit slowly, as was to be expected for such an new concept and Laura got her sportsman license in it.
Tog, from EURODRAGSTER.COM, said it was the best engineered car he had seen!
The rolling chassis of the car is now for sale as the team principals at BLOODLINES decided they wanted Laura out racing in a nostalgia car alongside dad! You can check the sale details by clicking the photograph underneath. It is a superb car, very high quality build, all tags are current and it has a full MSA log book. There are a ton of spares and accessories to go with it and it will be a lot of fun! Any chain drive motor will fit in this car and be legal. A hyabusa etc would be perfect! It is legal in several MSA classes.
BLOODLINES RACING did a deal with Team DB from Bristol and acquired their championship winning 'Ramraider' Jr. Fuel slingshot for Laura. Turboville Racing renovated and improved the car changing it's name to 'YOUNG BLOOD' in keeping with the car her father drives. Laura immediately got the hang of this wild 600 horsepower car and spent the year terrorizing the SUPER-PRO class.
At the end of the year she had proven she could drive anything, appeared on the BBC and even had a blast in a big 'comp' dragster belonging to Stutz Racing, from Switzerland. Laura has started her University Degree course in Media and TV and will have to take a break from racing so Bloodlines have sold he beautiful car. We wish the new owners every success with it and hope the have as much fun!
2006 was a great year for the team! Ian, Brum, Steve, Chris, Terry and Carl, campaigned the bike on behalf of the new owners in the whole of the ACU 'Top-Fuel Bike' series, against the supercharged four cylinder bikes, and various other events such as the 20th. Anniversary Bulldog Bash.
In the end we came second in ACU Top Fuel, first in the SPRC championship and first in the APIRA championship. We set personal bests at every meeting and finished the year older, wiser, quicker and faster.
We were also voted 'SPRC-Best Appearing Bike' by the voters on Eurodragster.com
Making the bike owners very happy indeed with their efforts!

The Top-Gas bike still competes in NAST to this day and is still winning in the hands of Terry Green!
We won the 2004 NAST, Top Fuel, championship on the S&S 'Sure Shot' fuel-bike, which is now de- commissioned to permanent display with Santa Pod raceway. A fitting end for this great little bike, it earned it's retirement!
Ian's first drag bike, a highly modified Yamaha XS 650, is now in the lake District somewhere and is still on the road!
The 'Help for Heroes' Junior Dragster is still racing and still giving families lots of fun.
The 'Young Blood' car had a great first year with it's new owners but reached the limits of it potential and is being re-built to a faster, quicker spec.
The 'Overkill' car is now in the hands of Tom and Dave from 'Patvan Racing' and we eagerly await their masterpiece.
The 'True Blood' slingshot raced into glory in Super-Pro ET in 2015 and ran into the seven second bracket with Laura driving for Bloodlines racing. The car is being re-freshed and will be used for exhibition and demonstration runs only from now.
The 'Beach Bomb' dragster, commissioned by Bloodlines, made its debut at Dragstalgia 2015 and is for sale turn key as intended.
The all new 'Bad Blood' top-dragster, will make its debut at the European Finals with Laura driving again for Bloodlines
